Oregon Coast Lighthouses

Light Houses

Lighthouses have been part of the Oregon coast since 1857, when the Umpqua River house was first lit. Unfortunately due to poor planning and a bad survey the structure collapsed from being battered by winter storms and the pounding of the high seas.

Today there are eleven structures still standing along the Oregon coast. They are as far north as Tillamook Rock and as far south as Port of Brookings. Two of the houses, Cleft of the Rock and Pelican Bay are privately owned and can only be seen from a distance.

Several have been restored and a visit to them is like a visit to the past. Click on any in the list below to get information on a particular location.

Tillamook Rock Heceta Head

Cape Meares Umpqua River

Yaquina Head Cape Arago

Yaquina Bay Coquille River

Cleft of the Rock Cape Blanco

Pelican Bay
