Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United States is the Counties namesake. Located in the south of Oregon it is bordered by California on the south, Josephine County to the west, Klamath County to the east, and Douglas County to the north. Principal industries in the county are agriculture, lumber, manufacturing, and tourism. The Rogue River provides many activities, from fishing to rafting, to camping and hiking. Boating, canoeing and kayaking are also fun past times in the county. There are over 10,000 acres of orchards throughout the county.Also mined in the County is Soapstone, a substance used in art sculpture.
