Named for the Columbia River the county has 62 miles of River shoreline. It also has the only two marine parks in Oregon.These are the J.J. Collins Memorial Marine Park and Sand Island on the River. The River is a major route of ocean-going vessels.The County is the third smallest in Oregon, with only Multnomah and Hood River Counties being smaller. It was the sixteenth county created in Oregon. The primary industries of the County are dairying, horticulture, timber, fishing, and of course recreation like most of Oregon.
